WORKSHOP

Every person that starts his or her career, or who is in the process of climbing the corporate ladder, does so by deliberate and careful planning.  Preparation is the key. This one-day interactive and practical course aims to prepare you with the skills needed to improve your chances of creating a professional and lasting impression, when seeking your chosen career. In order to gain practical experience, Students are divided into several groups, where they enact the various stages of job hunting.

CV WRITING & INTERVIEW PREPARATION SKILLS

A one-day interactive and practical course where students will learn the skills of writing a professional cover letter, compiling a CV and tutored on interview preparation skills. If you are unable to attend the course, we also offer a once-off service of formatting and updating your cv.

The following will be covered:

The importance of a professional cover letter and interview preparation:

  • How to structure a cover letter.

  • What do you want from your next job?

  • How to interpret the job specifications.

  • Determine what the employer is looking for.

  • Target your CV for the specific position you are applying for.

  • Information on what to include and exclude from your CV.

  • Learn how to write strong personal statements.

  • Preparation for your interview.

  • What to expect in the interview.

  • Where to source information and evidence to use in your interview.

  • Students are required to bring their current CV with them to work on during the course. If the student does not have a current CV, we will prepare a CV for them during the course.

Once you have been informed that you cv was successful – the prospective employer will ask you to come in for an interview.  It is important that you are well prepared.  You only have one chance to make a lasting impression. Remember – you are not the only candidate that is being interviewed for the position.



Workshop preparation
:

To prepare for the workshop, you are required to:

  • Bring a copy of the advertisement for the position you are applying for.  
    This will help to determine the skills required for compiling a professional
    Cover Letter and writing a CV targeting the position you are applying for.
  • Bring a copy of your current CV, to work on during the course.
    The CV does not have to be comprehensive, and it would be preferable
    if you do not ask someone for assistance, as we will cover this during the workshop.

Whether you are a student or professional without a current CV, we will prepare a CV for you during the course. This workshop welcomes all individuals looking to improve their CV writing and interview preparation skills. Recruiters receive many CV’s on a daily basis, it is therefore important that your CV is well structured and is related to the position you are applying for. It is your responsibility to ensure your CV does not land up at the bottom of the pile. Take this opportunity to leave a long lasting impression. This course can also be held over a two day period, allowing more time for practical workshops.

Once you have been informed that you cv was successful – the prospective employer will ask you to come in for an interview.  It is important that you are well prepared.  You only have one chance to make a lasting impression.  Remember – you are not the only candidate that is being interviewed for the position.  Depending on the seniority of the position, there could be 5 or 10 people being interviewed for the same position!
